lyrics

EXHALE

Saved by the day just in time
Just a little bit to let my head unwind
Listen to sounds as they float about
Lost in my head some of these days
Found some good friends to show me the way
Listen and you’ll stay engaged

Two lonely sounds, two lonely sounds, float around

Exhale all the air to make room for the new
If you're thinking about someone they're probably thinking about you too
Put one foot down so the other can move and
Exhale all the air to make room for the new

Luck’s still alive when I take my time
The universe will smile when I’m caught in a bind
Listen to the song as the chords change
If you jump too soon you’ll throw the groove
If you stay in that place you’ll miss the next one too
Listen and feel the space

Two lonely sounds, two lonely sounds, float around

Exhale all the air to make room for the new
If you're thinking about someone they're probably thinking about you too
Put one foot down so the other can move and
Exhale all the air to make room for the new

If I wasn’t over there than I’d be right here
And if I wasn’t right here than I’d be no where
Listen and it becomes clear
Not saying nothing new but it’s not really true
Till you decide to follow on thru
Listen

AND SO IT GOES

I lay in bed, every night
With a song in my head
Losing sight of what it meant
When I first hummed along
But here I am exhausting it
Until night turns to dawn
A heavy sleep comes easily
When you turn the thoughts off

It’s a sad time for looking up
It’s a sad time for looking down
It’s a sad time for anything
When you don’t look around

If you want give me a call
I’ll be around
I’ll try my best to remember to
Leave my ringer on
And if you want give me a call
I’ll be around
I guess time will tell if we finish well
When I see you again

It’s a sad time for looking up
It’s a sad time for looking down
It’s a sad time for anything
When you don’t look around

And so it goes, this time again
As we come to a close
You always knew but I doubted you
So here’s to being friends

SIX YEARS

Stretch my arms so far so I can’t use them anymore,
no I can’t use them anymore
Why do I give and give till I can’t give it anymore
no I can’t give it anymore
But I’ve a weakness you know my weakness is just seeing you smile,
it’s just seeing you smile
But where’d it get me, where’d it take me
I’m just spinning in the mud I’m just spinning in the mud

What am I saying? Why am I complaining?
Well I got legs of my own I guess I can walk alone
Don’t think I’ll mind it the peace and quiet
Well everyone I see they’ll be happier for me
But I’ve got a secret, you know my secret,
Well I can’t let you go you taught me everything I know
So how do I walk away, how do I make that space?
I want those memories to last can’t forget about the past

So it’s come to be this crazy mixing
of caring for someone while you help them load up the gun
Repetition is key in learning these things
Well I’m a master martyr I’ll no doubt suffer harder
But I’ve got to keep it, you know I’ll keep it,
just to give it back I can’t accept what you lack
But when I say it I know I can’t blame it
on you and you alone I need to come into my own

IN DREAMS

Well I sat in the chair it soaked me up till nothing was
there you went right out of my mind
Well I talk to myself to help me listen
the dreams persist but no one even
Cares if all you do is sleep

But in my dreams I know no one’s there
It’s just me alone in the chair

Well your mind is on to everything searching for dots but never
Connecting the words to your thoughts
You’ve written them down cause it helps you think
your writing’s a mess but the ideas
Come through legibly

And in your dreams you talk in your sleep
Awake enough to respond to anything

And I can’t go on and on
Looking for love found under layers of trouble
And I can’t go on and on
Looking for love found under layers of trouble

The thoughts at night when silence comes the ceiling the blinds the clock all becomes one incredible noise
And the focus on them is hard to stop
but the thoughts to stop simply
adds to the volume

And in our dreams we become anything
Behind our eyes a movie screen
